← Menu Pricing Engine → Overhead Setup

One walkthrough, six stages: get your GL costs in (upload or type key totals) → every account gets sorted automatically where it safely can be, you confirm the rest → split overhead across your departments by whichever measure makes sense (floor area, headcount, etc.) → see each department's real capacity and the live manufacturing $/min rate → upload your wage template to set blended hourly rates per worker tier → set your labour headcount and hours to get the general overhead rate. Nothing here is hidden — every dollar is tracked from your GL through to the final rate, and you can see exactly where it went at every step.

1 Get your costs in
Upload your GL export, or type in the handful of cost totals directly if you don't have a clean export to hand. Either way lands in exactly the same place.

A Profit & Loss / Trial Balance summary CSV with Account, Account Code, Net Movement and Account Type columns — the same export you'd send an accountant. Balance-sheet accounts (loans, bank accounts, depreciation schedules) and revenue lines are recognised and set aside automatically — you won't be asked about those.

2 Confirm where your costs go
Every account is sorted automatically into one of three groups below. Review and confirm each group — correct anything that's wrong before moving on. Nothing is calculated until you confirm.

3 Split overhead across departments
If you run more than one decoration method (Screen Print, Embroidery, Transfers, etc.), choose how your manufacturing overhead pool should be divided between them. Running only one method? Add a single department below and it gets 100% of the pool.
Split basis:
4 Capacity and live manufacturing rates
Live manufacturing $/min rates for each department, calculated from the pool split and capacity figures entered above.
5 Labour rates — wage ingestion
Upload your completed ApparelMetrics Wage Template to set the blended hourly rate for each worker tier. Rates are applied directly to the pricing engine.
1
Wage data in
Export the Engine_Export tab as a CSV; only rows flagged engine_upload = YES are imported.

6 Labour capacity and general overhead rate
General overhead (admin wages, professional fees, vehicles, etc.) is spread across all labour minutes in the business — not just production. Enter your total headcount, hours per day, and operating days to set the denominator. The general OH pool comes from your GL classification above. The resulting $/labour-minute rate is applied to every minute of work across every department.
